Beginning January 1, 2026, Dr. Michael Zaruba transitioned from a traditional primary-care practice into a full-time Occupational Health role. He remains an active physician with AFHC and now focuses on Occupational Health and Medical Review Officer (MRO) services.
Dr. Zaruba provides Medical Review Officer (MRO) and Substance Abuse Expert (SAE) services and regulatory oversight for multiple nuclear power utilities nationwide. He is a highly sought-after expert and nationally recognized leader in this specialized field, trusted for his knowledge, attention to detail, and integrity. He is also a dedicated advocate for the accuracy and integrity of occupational health standards and fitness-for-duty determinations.
Dr. Zaruba is a registered medical examiner on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners and performs DOT/CDL physicals in accordance with FMCSA guidelines.
Dr. Zaruba and his wife, Stacy, have one daughter, Kassidy. Dr. Zaruba is a member of the Auburn Board of Public Works and the Auburn Airport Authority. He actively competes in trapshooting competitions and is a life member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA).
